What is a traumatic brain injury?

by James Holliday, posted in Brain Injury

A traumatic brain injury is an insult to the brain that results in bruising, swelling or bleeding of the brain or brain tissue. It can result in many different types of symptoms like nausea or memory problems.

There are important medical tests that can be done to detect where the injury is located which may explain why you or a loved one is not acting like they did before the wreck. Some of these test records SPECT scans that actually look and brain function to see if the brain is functioning the way it should, it looks at the profusion of blood of how it runs through the brain and some just show an anatomical picture of the brain like an MRI and they can pick up bright white signals in the brain in the location of where that occurs which can explain behavior changes.

So, if you or a loved one has been involved in an accident resulting in TBI or traumatic brain injury, please give me a call I’d like to see if I can help.
