Three impressive young people received a total of $5,000 in college scholarships recently as part of the Holliday Karatinos, PLLC, Scholarship Program. Students throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties submitted essays for this year’s competition. They shared their thoughts on “The Importance of the 7th Amendment in the U.S. Constitution.”
The top three winning essay writers earned scholarships to help cover the students’ tuition, books, and related supplies. The winners were:
- First Prize ($2,500 Scholarship): Brandon James Hopkins
- Second Prize ($1,500 Scholarship): Anna Elizabeth Naughton
- Third Prize ($1,000 Scholarship): William Christopher Ertl
This year’s essay topic, the 7th amendment, provoked a lot of interesting submissions. “The 7th Amendment is a vital protection for everyday people who have been hurt by someone else’s negligence,” noted Jim Holliday, founder of Holliday Karatinos, PLLC. “In their essays, the students provided some thoughtful insights on the importance of personal injury victims’ right to a jury trial.”
