What is a facet joint injury?

What is a facet joint injury?   If you're having shooting pain, it may be caused by a facet joint injury that wouldn't be seen on an MRI. A facet joint injury is damage to a joint in the spine. The joint is right here where the articulating surfaces are here between the bones. Oftentimes, in an accident, the vertebral bodies will squish together like that, and it causes damage to the joint itself. And sometimes it'll pinch the nerve. The only way to diagnose a facet joint injury is with a facet joint injection. If you're having chronic back pain, and you suspect it might be a facet joint injury, please come in and sit down and talk with me. I'd like to see what I can do to help.
